For a long time, urban planning was perceived as a technical field, reserved mainly for specialists. Lengthy documents, specific maps that were difficult to interpret, and procedures that remained largely unfamiliar to the general public created a certain distance between citizens and the decisions that influence their everyday lives. Today, digitalization is beginning to change this reality.

When information is presented clearly and is easy to access, people become more engaged. They gain a better understanding of why new public spaces are appearing in certain areas, how infrastructure investments are being planned, and what development prospects exist for the neighborhoods in which they live. In this way, urban planning becomes closer to the community and easier to understand.

The General Urban Plan is the city's main strategic territorial development document and guides the evolution of Chișinău until 2040. The document will establish the directions of urban development, investment priorities, territorial organization, urban mobility, infrastructure, heritage protection, and the expansion of green spaces, contributing to the development of a modern, functional, and sustainable city.

It is from this intention that the platform pug.chisinau.md was created – a digital space that brings information about the municipality's new General Urban Plan closer to citizens. The platform provides documents, informational materials, maps, and explanations in an accessible and interactive format, transforming a complex subject into a more transparent and easier-to-follow process. The platform publishes all relevant information regarding the progress of the project, including supporting documents and studies, the schedule of public consultations, consultation reports, informational materials, and project updates. At the same time, citizens, specialists, and all interested stakeholders will be able to follow the stages of the General Urban Plan's development and actively contribute by submitting proposals and recommendations.

The launch of the platform represents an important step in the development of the e-Urbanism component, contributing to greater transparency, facilitating dialogue with the community, and modernizing the urban planning process.

The value of this initiative goes beyond simply publishing information online. The platform contributes to democratizing access to data and facilitates communication between the administration and the community. When information is open and easy to consult, citizens are no longer merely spectators of urban development. They can understand the context, formulate opinions, and participate more actively in the dialogue about the future of the city.

At the same time, transparency generates trust. Digital urban planning creates a more direct connection between people and urban planning processes, giving every resident the opportunity to better understand the decisions that shape the space in which they live. The launch of the platform pug.chisinau.md is also an invitation to every resident to participate in creating the future city in which we will live over the coming decades.

In the coming period, the first public consultations dedicated to the urban development of the city of Chișinău will be organized. The Chișinău City Hall invites all interested stakeholders to follow the progress of the General Urban Plan updating project and to actively participate in public consultations by contributing proposals and recommendations to the development of a modern, sustainable document adapted to the capital's development needs.

AO INFOERA, acting as a consultant for digitalization, information, and public consultation activities, has presented to the City Hall's leadership the digital tools that will ensure public access to project information and the collection of citizens' proposals. The digital ecosystem for public consultations, consisting of the solution pug.chisinau.md, the DGAURF electronic library on dgaurf.md, and the portal consultari.dgaurf.md, creates a participatory environment in which residents can easily become involved in the process of developing the General Urban Plan of the city of Chișinău.
